Maine Maple Sunday
Hey Y’all,
March can be a very daunting month for the state of Maine. There’s still snow on the ground, it’s very cold, and while the rest of the world is experiencing Spring, we experience mud season. On the fourth Sunday of every March, people crawl out of their winter hibernation to celebrate Maine Maple Sunday. Being in Florida for the past two years made this year especially sweet for me.
Maine Maple Sunday is a day when nearly 100 sugarhouses open up their properties for tours and samples of Maple Syrup and other maple goodies. It is such a fun experience for families in the New England area. My family and I have gone ever since I was very little! Since from when my family started going, it has grown into a huge event.
The event spans over a weekend now instead of one day. Now, most sugarhouses have animals, pancakes breakfasts, and their goodies have expanded as well. They now serve maple cinnamon rolls (I had one and they are delish!), granola, maple butter, maple cotton candy, the list goes on! It’s a sugar lover’s paradise! Check out my pictures below of the event this year.
As you can see from the pictures, it’s a huge event! We traveled to two different places for the event. First we went to Merrifield Farm because they really make it an event for families. They have a coffee hut, pancake breakfast, plenty of samples, bonfires, and animals! Then we traveled to Parson’s Farm. We have maple trees in our backyard that get tapped by the Parson’s family for maple syrup, so we go love to go and support our trees!
If you are ever in Maine in March, make sure to plan your trip around Maine Maple Sunday. It’s an event that is fun for the whole family! If you want a good waffle recipe to make for breakfast, here is my homemade waffle recipe!
